Hughes O’Hanlon Architects were appointed by Wrexham County Borough Council to design a proposed residential development for the former Greenacres site at Rhosddu Road, Wrexham. The scheme proposes 58 affordable homes and could become the Council’s largest council housing development project, helping to respond to identified local housing need within a sustainable and well connected location.
A key objective of the project has been to create a well integrated and inclusive neighbourhood that connects naturally with the existing community. The layout has been shaped through close collaboration with the wider consultant team, balancing accessibility, placemaking, landscape considerations and residential amenity.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding Victorian streetscene, the architectural approach reinterprets the area’s established red brick and stone character in a contemporary way, helping to create a development that feels rooted within its context while delivering high quality, sustainable and accessible homes for the future.
