Hughes:O’Hanlon Architects was appointed by a Sports National Governing Body (NGB) to undertake an assessment of a former retail megastore in Cardiff.
Hughes:O’Hanlon determined the feasibility of converting the building into a National Training Centre – a dedicated centre providing a home for the sport’s various disciplines and the NGB’s central competition venue, as well as serving community recreational activities.
The building sits at the centre of Cardiff’s International Sports Village Masterplan. It is flanked by the road circuit and, as part of the Masterplan, is intended to house a Sports Hub – a shared facility to be utilized by various sports’ National Governing Bodies and other stakeholders.
