Livingstone Place, St Asaph

Hughes O’Hanlon Architects was appointed by Pure Homes for the delivery of a brownfield social residential development for Clwyd Alyn Housing Association.

The scheme provides 56 new dwellings on the site of the former HM Stanley Hospital in St Asaph, Denbighshire, comprising a mix of one and two-bed apartments alongside three-bed houses. Central to the design is a 51-apartment block for residents aged 55 and over, complemented by five general occupancy townhouses, offering a carefully considered response to local housing needs.

Responsible for the technical delivery of the project, we undertook an early compliance check against Welsh Design Quality Requirements and Lifetime Homes standards, ensuring the development supports accessibility, adaptability, and high standards of living.

The design also responds to the constraints of a sensitive site, located alongside listed buildings, healthcare facilities, and established infrastructure.

Sustainability has been embedded throughout the development, with photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points, and provision for cycle and scooter storage.
